UltiHash secures EU funding to make global data deduplication a reality

New research project addresses critical need in AI data infrastructures, lowering costs by linking data across cloud locations

UltiHash GmbH has been awarded funding under the Pro FIT program, co-funded by the European Union, to develop an advanced, globally applicable storage solution featuring built-in deduplication. The project will deliver a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product designed to reduce redundant data across diverse networks, helping organizations significantly lower storage requirements while improving data processing efficiency.

The solutions will cater to the demands of AI-driven applications and other data-intensive workloads, ensuring smooth operations across hybrid and multi-cloud storage environments. With a focus on optimizing data locality and resource consumption, UltiHash’s technology will enable faster and more reliable performance while upholding stringent compliance and data security standards.

A cornerstone of the project involves developing real-time synchronization capabilities to ensure data consistency across multiple locations, preserving data integrity while avoiding operational bottlenecks. The solution will support the data infrastructure needs of a broad spectrum of industries, such as:

  • Healthcare, where secure and compliant access to imaging and patient data is paramount;
  • Autonomous driving, which generates vast volumes of unstructured sensor and video data requiring efficient storage and processing; and
  • Manufacturing, where AI-powered quality control systems depend on immediate, uninterrupted access to sensor data.
‘We’re thrilled to have the EU's support in bringing our vision for globally distributed storage to life. As AI continues to drive global innovation, we want to help data-driven businesses across industries scale and adapt to these breakthroughs. A connected, energy-efficient storage foundation - one that works seamlessly across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments - will empower them to do exactly that.’
